The Pony Island FAQs

Everything you need to know about courses, printables, Pony Island Plus, and learning on The Pony Island.

Whether you’re a parent, riding instructor, educator, or simply have a horse-loving kid who wants to learn more, you’ll find answers to common questions below.

Courses & Learning

What age is The Pony Island designed for?

The Pony Island is designed primarily for horse-loving kids ages 6–12. Younger children may enjoy exploring courses and activities with an adult, while older kids can work through much of the material independently.

Do kids need to own a horse or take riding lessons?

Not at all! The Pony Island is for all horse-loving kids, whether they own a pony, take riding lessons, are just beginning to spend time at a barn, or simply dream about horses.

How do The Pony Island courses work?

Courses are self-paced and designed especially for young horse lovers. Depending on the course, kids can explore illustrated lessons, interactive games and activities, quizzes, and other educational content while learning practical horse knowledge.

How long do the courses take?

Course length varies by topic. The courses are self-paced, so kids can complete a course in one sitting or return to it over several days.

What kinds of topics do the courses cover?

Courses cover subjects such as horse and barn safety, grooming, horse behavior and communication, breeds, coat colors and markings, gaits, horse terminology, measuring horses, tying horses safely, and more. New courses are added as The Pony Island continues to grow.

Do students receive anything when they complete a course?

All courses include a final quiz and a personalized Certificate of Accomplishment. Kids can also earn digital pony rewards as they complete the courses.

Courses & Learning

Are printable educational materials included with course purchases?

Yes! When a course has a matching printable learning pack, it is included with the course purchase at no additional cost.

The printables extend learning beyond the screen with activities kids can complete at home, bring to the barn, or use alongside their riding lessons.

Where do I find the printable that came with my course?

Matching printables are available from the individual course page after you have access to the course. Look for the printable resources associated with that course.

Can I buy printables without purchasing a course?

There are many more Pony Island printables available for individual purchase. However, if you purchase a course that includes its matching printable, you do not need to purchase the printable separately.

Can I print the activities more than once?

Yes. You may print additional copies for your own household. Printables may not be shared, resold, redistributed, or posted online.

Courses & Learning

What is Pony Island Plus?

Pony Island Plus is an annual membership that gives you access to The Pony Island’s growing collection of horse-learning courses and their included printable educational materials.

Instead of purchasing courses individually, members can explore more of The Pony Island throughout the year.

How much does Pony Island Plus cost?

Pony Island Plus is $79 per year.

Your membership automatically renews annually unless you cancel before your next renewal date.

What's included with Pony Island Plus?

Pony Island Plus includes access to The Pony Island’s course library, including interactive lessons, educational games and activities, quizzes, certificates, and the printable learning materials included with those courses.

Any new courses added to The Pony Island during your active membership are included at no additional cost.

Are the printable activities included with Pony Island Plus?

Yes. Members receive access to the printable educational materials included with the courses available through their membership.

There isn’t currently a separate members-only printable library. Matching printables can be found through their associated courses.

Do I have to purchase individual courses if I have Pony Island Plus?

No. If a course is included in your active Pony Island Plus membership, you don’t need to purchase it separately.

Will I get access to new courses?

Yes! As long as your Pony Island Plus membership is active, you’ll receive access to new courses added to the membership during your subscription.

How long does my membership last?

Pony Island Plus is an annual subscription. Your membership remains active for one year and automatically renews each year unless you cancel.

How do I manage my subscription?

Log in and visit My Account → My Subscriptions. From there, you can view your subscription status, renewal date, and subscription details.

Can I cancel Pony Island Plus?

Yes. You can manage and cancel your subscription from My Account → My Subscriptions → Manage.

Cancelling stops future renewals. You will continue to have access until the end of your current paid membership period if that is how Subscriptions for WooCommerce is configured. I would verify this behavior before publishing that last sentence.

Accounts & Access

Where can I find my courses?

Log in and select My Account → My Courses. Your available LearnDash courses will appear there.

Where can I see my ponies and rewards?

Go to My Account → My Ponies to see the Pony Island ponies you’ve earned.

I purchased something, but I don't see it in my account. What should I do?

First, make sure you’re logged in using the same email address you used when making your purchase. If your purchase still isn’t appearing, contact The Pony Island and we’ll help you find it.

Can siblings share an account?
Separate accounts are much better for children who each want their own progress and accomplishments tracked.

Parents, Teachers & Riding Instructors

Can parents use The Pony Island with their children?

Absolutely. Parents can use the courses and printables to help horse-loving kids explore their interests at home, whether or not they currently ride or own a horse.

Can riding instructors use The Pony Island with students?

The Pony Island can complement riding lessons with learning about safety, horse care, behavior, breeds, terminology, and other horsemanship topics that instructors may not have time to cover during a mounted lesson.

Is The Pony Island a replacement for hands-on horse instruction?

No. The Pony Island complements hands-on instruction rather than replacing it. Skills involving horses should be practiced with appropriate adult supervision and guidance from a qualified instructor or experienced horse person.
