Understanding Horse Gaits

Measuring Horses and Ponies

In this story-based, interactive course, young equestrians will learn how horses move through the walk, trot, canter, and gallop—and why each gait feels different. Guided by Pepper, a wise retired dressage mare, kids explore rhythm, tempo, and balance through clear explanations, beautiful illustrations, and playful activities. From tapping hoofbeat patterns to spotting gaits in motion, this course helps children understand horse movement in a way that builds confidence both in and out of the saddle.
