Misty of Chincoteague is a classic children’s novel by Marguerite Henry, published in 1947. It tells the story of Paul and Maureen Beebe, two siblings who dream of owning a wild pony from the annual Chincoteague Pony Swim. They set their hearts on capturing the elusive Phantom, but to their surprise, they end up with her foal, Misty. The book, inspired by real events and a real-life pony named Misty, captures the adventure, determination, and deep bond between children and horses.
